Fine Arts Night Beaver Creek Elementary presents a fine arts night at the school beginning at 5:30 p.m. Vocal Concerts The Horizon Elementary kindergarten and first grades present a vocal music concert. Students at Horizon Elementary School collected 200 pairs of used athletic shoes in a shoe drive.
Horizon Elementary students went shoeless on Tuesday for a good cause. The students celebrated Day Without Shoes, a day to make children and parents aware that there are hundreds of thousands of children around the world who do not have shoes to wear. In correlation with the nationwide day of awareness, students held a used shoe drive. Students learned that without shoes, children cannot attend school and often have foot-related health problems from uncovered feet. The Horizon student council sponsored the shoe drive that brought in more than 200 pairs of athletic shoes, which will be sent to Africa. The shoes that don’t have life in them anymore will be given to the Nike recycle program. These shoes will be crushed up into Nike Grind …
