Deep Fried Ho Ho Comes With a Side of How Many Calories? Find Your Favorite Fair Food's Nutritional Value

A new application allows you to map your favorite Iowa State Fair food and find out how much exercise you'll need to burn off the treats.

It's time to throw our diets out the window and head to the Iowa State Fair for meals drenched in grease and placed on a stick.

Whether you're a fan of giant tenderloins, pork chop on a stick or something more exotic like the new double bacon-wrapped corndog there's now an easy way to find all your favorite fair foods.

The Des Moines Register recently launched a smart phone app that maps fair food and offers nutritional information.

The 2012 Iowa State Fair Food Finder shows vendor locations, healthy food options and events for any given day of the fair. The fair food finder can also be accessed online for pre-fair planning.

So let's get down to what you really want to know, how much is that double bacon corndog going to cost you in calories? Just 498 calories. I'm actually a little surprised, I was sure it would be much more.

Last year's out-of-this-world concoction, deep fried butter on-a-stick, clocks in a hefty 729 calories.

The popular Fair Square clocks in with 455 calories.

Pork chop on-a-stick? Just 381 calories.

What about the giant tenderloin? That'll set you back 801 calories.

Looking for dessert? How about a deep-fried Ho Ho on-a-stick? The delicious treat comes with 273 calories. (See video along with this story, the deep fried Ho Hos were a huge hit with my out-of-state friends).

I have acid reflux just thinking about a double bacon-wrapped corn dog. This is not as sick and wrong as deep-fat-fried butter – oye! – but it is close. Does it come with a defibrator, or does that cost extra?
