Koah Thompson, a fifth-grader at Lawson Elementary School and a member of the Johnston Youth Track Club, recently competed in the AAU National Junior Olympics Track and Field Championships that were held July 26-August 3 in Detroit, Mich.
Koah was a gold medalist in two events: the triathlon (shot put, high jump, 400 meter dash) and the high jump.
He broke the Iowa AAU records in both events for his age group and amassed 745 points in the triathlon and jumped 4’8″ in the high jump.

Koah also finished 48th in the open 400 meter dash.
