Dragons Volleyball Advances to Regional Final Tuesday

The Johnston High School Dragons swept Ames High School on Thursday night.

The postseason seems to be working well for Johnston High School athletics.

The Dragon volleyball (25-8) team swept Ames High School, 25-18, 25-13, 25-17, Thursday evening in the Class 5-A volleyball regional semifinal.

The match, which took place in Johnston, was the third meeting of the teams this fall.

On Sept. 4 the schools met in Ames, where the Dragons bested the Little Cyclones 3-2.

On Sept. 29 the teams met at Urbandale High school during a tournament. Ames took the victory 1-2 that day.

The Dragons next play at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the regional final against Cedar Falls in Marshalltown.

If the Dragons are victorious Tuesday they would earn the first trip to state since 2008.
