Johnston Homecoming Parade Info: Route, Detours and Road Closures

Press release from the City of Johnston:

Johnston's Homecoming Parade is Thursday and begins at 6 p.m.

Here is an early look at what you can expect as far as road closures and detours:

Greendale Road between Pioneer Parkway and Greendale Circle will be used as a staging area for participants.  Greendale Road at Winwood Drive will be shut down beginning at 3 p.m.

There will be limited access to the parade route area beginning at 4 p.m.  Residents in the Green Meadows area will be allowed access to their homes, up until the start of the parade.

Pioneer Parkway (westbound/northbound traffic) near Greendale Road will be shut down beginning at 4 p.m. Thursday.  Eastbound/southbound Pioneer Parkway will remain open but will be limited to one lane only, with traffic flowing toward Merle Hay Road. 

No parking will be allowed on Pioneer Parkway.

NW 62nd Avenue from Pioneer Parkway to NW 59th Court will shut down at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Dupont Pioneer employees will need to exit by way of Pioneer Parkway and head south/east to Merle Hay Road.

Johnston Public Works already has message boards posted on Pioneer Parkway alerting travelers to the changes.  They detail time of shutdowns and detours.

The parade begins at Pioneer Parkway and Greendale Road and heads west/north on Pioneer Parkway beginning at 6 p.m.  It ends at the high school.  Public Works crews and Johnston police will be there to assist you.  Come out and support your school!
