Students learned that without shoes, children cannot attend school and often have foot-related health problems from uncovered feet.

The Horizon sponsored the shoe drive that brought in more than 200 pairs of athletic shoes, which will be sent to Africa.

The shoes that don’t have life in them anymore will be given to the Nike recycle program. These shoes will be crushed up into Nike Grind and made into new athletic surfaces, like courts, parks, or tracks.

It is exciting to think that someone’s running shoes will be running down a dirt road in Africa helping a child get to school, or that outgrown soccer cleats will help a child stay healthy in a local village.
