Gingrich, Others to Attend Huckabee Iowa Event on Abortion

Citizens United and Mike Huckabee present the premiere of "The Gift of Life" Wednesday night at Hoyt Sherman Place.

Nearly four years after winning the Iowa caucuses — and derailing Mitt Romney's express train to the Republican nomination for president — Mike Huckabee is returning to Iowa in the homestretch of the 2012 caucus campaign.

The former Arkansas governor and current Fox News host is providing a forum for candidates to discuss their pro-life stance.

Huckabee will premiere a 60-minute documentary produced by Citizens United, called "The Gift of Life," Wednesday night at Hoyt Sherman Place in Des Moines.

GOP presidential candidates Michele Bachman, Rick Perry, Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich will each give a five- to seven-minute address on pro-life issues, said Jeff Marschner, press secretary for Citizens United.

All GOP presidential candidates were invited to the event, Marschner said, but Ron Paul and Mitt Romney had other engagements on the East Coast.

In November, Huckabee told Yahoo News he would not likely endorse a candidate for president before the January caucuses and possibly throughout the entire nomination process.

The film is being billed as "an inspirational documentary that explores the sanctity of life as a moral issue and looks at the lives of individuals on the front lines of the pro-life movement in America, including those who were nearly victims of abortion."

Citizens United, an organization dedicated to restoring government to citizens' control, has made 19 documentaries, including six hosted by Newt Gingrich and his current wife, Callista Gingrich.

The event includes an introduction by Family Leader Bob Vander Plaats and a short speech by Huckabee.

Doors to the free, public event open at 5:30 p.m. and the presentation begins at 7 p.m.
