The open house and silent auction are to raise funds for the William J. Goldhammer Memorial Scholarship. The Goldhammer Scholarship is awarded annually for college tuition to 3 residents of Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity homes. The scholarship was endowed by the Goldhammer family in memory of William who passed away unexpectedly at the age of 21 in 2012.

“We’re hoping to raise around $10,000 to $15,000 through the open house and silent auction,” said Jessica Carter, the scholarship’s senior advisor. “We have several wonderful silent auction items, two of the items that we are very excited about are, a Corporate Outing at Talons of Tuscany, Mr. Albaugh’s private 19 hole golf course in Ankeny, with meeting space for a morning meeting and golf in the afternoon for 8 on the course. Mr. and Mrs. Albaugh also donated a foursome of the course. This is the second year of the Scholarship. We have had a wonderful response from the Habitat families. Our goal is to offer this scholarship for many years to come.”  A limited number of tickets are being sold.
