Business of the Week: Lifetime Vision Provides Unique Optical Experience for Clients

Tara Cooper opened Lifetime Vision on Merle Hay Road last winter.

Dr. Tara Cooper's journey to owning a local optometry clinic in Johnston began when most of her friends were working retail jobs for gas money.

"I started working with a private-practice optometrist in my hometown of Lakeville, Minnesota," Cooper said of her high school job. "I instantly was impressed with the relationships that he forged with his patients. I knew that someday, that was the route that I wanted to take, as well."

Today, Cooper is nearing one year of owning Lifetime Vision, 5525 Merle Hay Road.

"Today, we hear from many of our patients that they have never experienced an eye exam that is as comprehensive as ours," she said. "We know that our success relies on the concept of providing our patients with the absolute highest value for their dollar. It all boils down to taking the time to establish a trusting and positive relationship with everyone who turns to us to help them take care of their vision health."

Each day presents a new challenge, whether it be an interesting clinical case or just helping a patient see more clearly.

"We offer personalized, quality service and products to each patient and we strive to make their experience at our office the most comfortable and pleasant they have had," she said.

Unlike retail eye clinics, Lifetime Vision, which includes a full optical boutique, provides a comprehensive eye exam that serves as two in one.

The first part focuses on the current eye health status of the patient, while the second part focuses on creating a detailed plan to maintain healthy vision.

"We utilize the latest technology available while completing each eye exam," Cooper said. "We work with local lens laboratories to provide fast, personalized service to our business and our patients."

Cooper is licensed to practice full scope optometric care which includes: annual eye examinations, contact lens fittings, eye emergency care, eye disease management, pediatric care, geriatric care, and treatment for eye injuries and infections.

Cooper and her husband, Tyler, chose Johnston because it was the best of both worlds.

"(It's) close to a large city with all it has to offer, yet keeps more of the small town feel and charm," she said. "Being part of the community of Johnston allows us to feel closely connected with everyone who walks through the door – this is a truly special part of owning a business here."

To celebrate Lifetime Vision's first anniversary, the store will have 50 percent off designer frames from 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8.

Refreshments and prizes will also be available.
