Ride DART routes #51 and #91 for free in April

                The Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority announced today that passengers can take an unlimited number of free rides on two routes which along the Merle Hay Road corridor and serve the Urbandale and Johnston areas.

                Local route #51 connects downtown Des Moines with stops along Merle Hay Road and at Merle Hay Mall via Interstate-235. Buses operate every thirty to sixty minutes weekdays from around 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Express route #91 connects the Johnston City Hall/Pioneer Parkway area and downtown Des Moines with stops along Merle Hay Road via Interstate-235. Buses on this route operate every 30 minutes on weekdays from approximately 6 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. and from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

                The routes were added in 2012 and 2013 as part of the DART Forward 2035 Plan, a blueprint for expanding and improving public transit in the Des Moines area.
