News From College: Johnston Residents Make Dean's Lists

While students are well into their second semester at college, they're being rewarded for their hard work from the fall.

We've compiled a list of recent dean's list recipients from colleges across the nation.

Anne Heuertz was named to the dean's list at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan.

Jessica Cross, daughter of Linda and Tom Cross of Johnston, was named to the fall 2011 dean's list at Saint Mary's College in Notre Dame, Ind.

Meanz Chan and Spencer Vasey, both of Johnston, were named to the 2011 fall president's list at Drake University. President's list honorees achieve a grade point average of 4.0 for the semester.

Angela Ballard, Alyssa Lahr, Michele Loggins, Travis Merritt and Daniel Scheetz, all of Johnston, were named to the fall 2011 dean's list at Drake University. To be named to the dean's list students must earn a G.P.A. of 3.5 or higher.

Central College named several Johnston residents to the fall 2011 dean's list.

• Jackie Bell, a sophomore, is the daughter of David and Patti Bell
• Elizabeth Elmitt of Johnston, a sophomore elementary education major, daughter of Bradley and Lori Elmitt
• Brent Goodenow of Johnston, a senior business management and Spanish major, son of Grant and Janene Goodenow
• Andrew Jackson of Johnston, a freshman, son of Roger and Kimber Jackson
• Emily Linscheid of Johnston, a sophomore, daughter of Craig and Nancy Linscheid
• Michelle Ness of Johnston, a senior biochemistry major, daughter of Jon and Amy Ness
• Abigail Sparks of Johnston, a senior mathematics and accounting major, daughter of Anthony and Raynee Sparks
• Holly Von Fumetti of Johnston, a senior business management major, daughter of Randy and Sherry Von Fumetti

Soren Thompson, a sophomore, and Allison Kane, a junior, were named to the 2011 fall dean's list at Luther College in Decorah.

Jonathan Cooper Holt, a senior accounting major, was named to the dean's list at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for fall 2011.

Kyle Scott Naig, a sophomore in piano, and Brittany Sue Trow, a freshman in pre-medicine and Spanish, were named to the honor roll at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kan.

Samantha McConeghey was named to the fall 2011 fall dean's list at Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tenn.

Allison Rawls, a psychology major, was named to the 2011 fall dean's list at Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, Calif.
