Johnston's Halloween Weekend Is Packed With Events

There are a number of Halloween activities on the agenda for the next several days.

There are plenty of opportunities to get into a festive spirit leading up to Halloween on Monday.

From exploring the paranormal to cozying up with a movie or tricking your neighbors into a treat, Johnston has it all covered.

Trunk or Treat
Get in on tasty halloween candy early with the Messiah Lutheran Church's Trunk or Treat from 6 to 7 p.m. on Friday. The event is rain or shine in the church's parking lot.

Ghosthunters Live!
The is sponsoring a night of real-life ghost adventures at the Simpson Barn.

The Iowa Paranormal Advanced Research Team is dedicated to investigating phenomena that are out of the ordinary or unexplained. IPART will bring along equipment, and footage of evidence they've caught on tape.

The event begins at 7 p.m. Friday.

Spooky Buddies
Cuddle up with a family movie at the Johnston Public Library from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Spooky Buddies will play in the library's large meeting room. The family friendly movie will be enjoyed with a snack.

Beggars' Night
Q. What is a Mummie's favorite type of music? 
A. Wrap!

The time that most children can't wait for, and dentist's despise, is here. Polish up on your jokes and have your bags ready for tasty treats around Johnston when Beggars' Night kicks off at 6 p.m. Sunday. 

Children will go door to door in their costumes until about 8 p.m. Households that want to take part should have their porchlights on.
 
Seniors Halloween Costume Contest
The Johnston Seniors at are hosting a Halloween costume contest at noon Monday.

Guests are encouraged to show their Halloween spirt. For lunch reservations call 251-3707.
