Updates on Winter Storm Draco: How Much Snow Did Draco Dump on Johnston?

Here's the latest news on the ongoing snow storm.

While the city of Johnston's snow ordinance is still in effect, abandoned cars are hampering plowing.

Crews have been working in Johnston since about 3 a.m., public works director Dave Cubit told The Des Moines Register.

Cubit said some areas of the city have not been plowed because drivers getting stuck in the snow have left their cars.

Crews can not plow those areas until cars are removed.

Winter Storm Draco did just as expected - dumped nearly 12 inches of snow in several areas of the state.

Johnston recorded 12.5 inches, according to KCCI.

Snow will continue to fall until mid-afternoon then taper off.

The snow ordinance in Johnston will remain in effect until 6 p.m., the same time the National Weather Service blizzard warning expires.

Although the snow will stop falling, it won't stop blowing.

The Iowa State Patrol says travel is not advised on any Iowa interstates and highways.
